Your Role

We are building the operating system to track, manage and improve production in factories with many workers. We automate what the best supervisors would do if they watched everything that’s happening in the factory & make it easy to digitise factory workflows.

The operating system for factories requires a powerful and flexible back-end. You will work closely with the rest of our engineering team to design and implement a back-end that can scale and handle a variety of different factory workflows. You will have the opportunity to make a massive impact on the foundation of the company and the lives of factory workers while solving interesting and complex problems in a fast-paced startup environment.

AiSupervision is backed by Y Combinator and other world class investors. We have an office in Mannheim, Germany but the role is remote with opportunities to meet in person while maximising productivity working from wherever you are most effective.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to designing and implementing scalable and flexible back-end APIs and services.
  • Work on scaling and extending our back-end infrastructure.
  • Implement complex data models and systems.
  • Contribute to engineering and deployment processes.
  • Critically question, analyse and improve existing processes and solutions.
  • Execute against short and long-term roadmaps while balancing trade-offs between business priorities and a solid technical foundation
  • Make something people want and empower factory workers to be more productive

Requirements

  • 4+ years of full time experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience building complex web applications and services with python.
  • Experience working with the Django framework.
  • Experience working with databases.
  • Experience working with timeseries (e.g. Timescaledb) beneficial (not required)
  • A high standard for yourself and others when working with production systems
  • Write high quality code that runs reliably in production but can make thoughtful technical trade-offs to move fast under time pressure.
  • Take responsibility for delivering great work to successful completion.
  • Excellent and responsive written communication skills.
  • Flexible and excited to solve complex problems quickly and iterate your way to the best solution.
  • Genuine interest in and curiosity about the manufacturing industry.
  • On CET +/- 4 hour timezone and willing to occasionally travel to Mannheim, Germany.
  • Formal computer science education beneficial (not required).
  • Electrical / industrial engineering experience beneficial (not required).

The role is remote but we would like to spend some time together in-person in Mannheim, Germany at this early stage if possible. At minimum this means occasional productive and fun on-sites in Germany or ideally full relocation (which we would help with).
